Hip Dysplasia Centre
Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip
Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) is a common problem in babies. It is more prevalent in girls and breech babies. If DDH is diagnosed early and treated properly then a normal hip is the expected outcome. Unfortunately in Australia with current screening methods the diagnosis is often missed. Late presentation and treatment may result in a less than optimal outcome and potentially osteoarthritis of the hip in adult life.
Dr Bellemore has been caring for babies with hip dysplasia for more than 30 years. He was among the first doctors in the world to use ultrasound scans to assess babies for hip dysplasia. He is an expert in hip ultrasonography having performed more 10,000 hip ultrasound scans.
Dr Bellemore’s Hip Dysplasia Centre provides a full range of services on site during one visit.

If your paediatrician, family doctor or clinic nurse have any concerns about your baby’s hips then a further assessment in the Baby Hip Dysplasia Centre is advisable. A doctor referral letter is required for the initial consultation. Fees are partly refunded through Medicare.
